We are open but have a new system of service. We are asking our visitors to order and pay on entry and follow the one-way system for entering and leaving. We hope that our modified menu has something on there that will please you. Takeaways are still available if this is what you prefer.
Come and relax by the babbling beck. We have full shade, semi shade and full sun seating. There are three pergolas and three large umbrellas to protect you from a light drizzle. Our garden is beautiful in all weathers!!! Parents please note that we ask that children stay seated at the table during your visit.
We have found since we re-opened on July 4th that we are extremely busy, especially over weekends, so we recommend that you book a table to avoid disappointment. Give us a call on 01751 269 121.Opening times 11am to 4pm - 4 days a week - Thursdays to Sundays. Please note our Tea Garden is closed during Autumn and Winter every year. Our last opening date this year is Sunday 27th September 2020
Our Tea Garden is surrounded by Duchy woodland and Pickering Beck. Our tables are placed next to the babbling beck which all adds to the enjoyment of the light refreshments that we offer. Train enthusiasts will be glad to know that the North York Moors Railway runs quite close to the garden and steam trains pass by many times a day. We also have a host of wildlife and birds visiting the garden. We are a short walk from Pickering so why not visit us for lunch or a light snack. Dogs on leads are most welcome.
Afternoon Tea at Lowther House - Traditional afternoon tea is served in the garden or our cosy dining room. The cost is £15.00 per person and includes a selection of sandwiches and savory pastries, fruit or plain scones with jam and cream, selection of cakes, tea or coffee. Booking is essential due to the amount of preparation involved. Gift vouchers are available for a special gift for someone.
There are several circular walks from Pickering and the surrounding area and we are in the perfect spot to stop during your walk for a pot of tea and some cake.
Lowther House Le Picnic - For guests at our B & B we have a lovely picnic basket that can be filled with goodies for you to take on your day out. Booking in advance is essential.
PLEASE NOTE visitors to our garden come for the peace and tranquility as well as the beauty. We ask that visitors with children respect this and ensure that children are not allowed to be disruptive. We also would like to draw parents attention to the fact that the fence between Pickering Beck and our garden has large spaces between the planks making access to the beck very easy for curious children. There is also a gate and steps leading down to the beck. These steps are used completely at your own risk. We prefer that children do not go down to the Beck but if they do they must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
