Lowther House Tea Garden

The Tea Garden is surrounded by Duchy woodland and Pickering Beck.  Our tables are placed next to the babbling beck which all adds to the enjoyment of the light refreshments that we offer.  Train enthusiasts will be glad to know that the North York Moors Railway runs quite close to the garden and steam trains pass by many times a day. We also have a host of wildlife and birds visiting the garden. We are a short walk from Pickering and there are several circular walks from there. So we are in the perfect spot to stop during your walk for a drink and a savoury or sweet treat.  Dogs on leads are most welcome. We should also mention that we have limited parking.

Afternoon Tea at Lowther House  -  Traditional afternoon tea can be served in the garden but must be pre-booked.  The cost is £20.00 per person and includes a selection of sandwiches and savory pastries, fruit scone with jam and cream, selection of cakes, tea or coffee. Booking is essential due to the amount of preparation involved.  During the busy summer months we can only serve the tea after 2.30 pm.  Gift vouchers are available for a special gift for someone.

PLEASE NOTE visitors to our garden come for the peace and tranquillity as well as the beauty.  We ask that visitors with children respect this and ensure that children are not allowed to be disruptive.  We also would like to draw parents attention to the fact that the fence between Pickering Beck and our garden has large spaces between the planks making access to the beck very easy for curious children. There is also a gate and steps leading down to the beck, but this is private and not accessable to the public.
